Golden Valley Harriers
GVH is a running club located in Davis, CA dedicated to promoting running in the community. Members come in all shapes and sizes—from elite ex-college runners to folks who are just starting to run and everything in between. The club is organized as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Donations to the club are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. Our Tax ID# is 14-1841731.
Everyone and anyone is welcome to come out and run with us, but we appreciate a positive attitude. (Please note that our RRCA insurance requires that runners under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.)
GVH currently meets for workouts Saturday mornings at 8 am at Fleet Feet Sports, 615 2nd Street, Davis, CA (Map, Fleet Feet website). Tuesday group runs meet at 5:45 pm at the location of the workout identified in the weekly e-mail message sent out by Craighton. Thursdays group runs meet at 5:55 pm at Central Park (corner of 3rd and C). An informal group in GVH meets at the UC Davis track on Thursday mornings at 8 am. For more details, see the weekly e-mail message sent out by Angie, or go to the Workouts and Events page.
Welcome to May! 2021 is moving fast… The turnout continues to increase at all of the weekly workouts, and it great fun to see both new and familiar faces.
The Tuesday night workouts will continue to meet at 5:45 for warm up and 6:05 for intervals at the location specified in the weekly announcement that describes that actual workout. Watch for the weekly announcement from Craighton for each week's location.
The Thursday night workouts will continue to start and finish at the south end of the Central Park at the corner of 3rd and C with runners departing at 5:55 PM.
Saturday morning workouts will continue to meet at 8:00 in front of Fleet Feet with runners heading out at 8:10 AM. Jake will be opening the store before/after the run if anyone needs the restroom or to store extra layers, keys, etc.
Hope to see some of you at any or all of the workouts!
Please save the date of May 11 for our Spring in-person club meeting. We are planning to meet after the Tuesday night speed workout (approx 7 PM) at the Mace Ranch Park. The meeting will be held outdoors but we will also be attempting to set up a Zoom option for those who prefer not to attend in-person. Craighton has graciously offered to bring some beverages to share, but please also bring your own snacks and/or picnic and any of your own favorite post-run beverages. We will be voting on a few items including using GroupMe to help smaller groups within the club to coordinate plans; making cash donations to local high school X-C teams; and, confirming Norman Coppinger to replace Steve Lynch on the Endowment Committee. I have been told that "Norman is the Deputy Director of Finance and Operations for the League of California Cities and should bring good oversight.” Please reach out to myself or any board member with any questions or concerns.
