Results 11/18 - 12/1/2019
Fellow Runners,
My apologies for missing last week's results; I ran into technical problems while traveling.
Way back on November 16th, Joann Helmus ran the North Face Endurance Challenge Marathon and won her age group. Angela Borchers and Constance Coman placed in their respective age groups in the 50K.
On November 23rd, Michael Pate dominated the Meat Grinder 30K on the trails north of Folsom Lake, coming in 20 minutes ahead of the second place finisher.
That same morning, the Turkey Trot was held in Davis. Nicole Kwan led GVH in the two-miler.
Tommy Brauer took third place overall in the 5K, and Jen Schmidt was the winner for the women. David Gerner, Andrew Liu, Bud Haas, Peter Friederich, and Sharon Hanks each placed in their respective age groups.
Not content with 5K, Tommy Brauer took fourth place in the 10K, and Jen Schmidt won the women's race for the second time in one day. Steve McSorley took second in his age group. Marrie Argentine Chen and Nancy Rashid took fourth and sixth in the women's 10K, respectively. Joachim Schnier, Bruce Fisher, Cary Craig, and Renvelyn Grey each placed in their respective age groups.
Beth Zinkand Michel led GVH in the half marathon by finishing in sixth place overall and winning the women's race in 1:25. Sarah Kay was fourth woman. Reed Thayer, Jen Canvasser, and Don Hagen each placed in their age groups. A full complement of pacers provided accurate finish times, with Roman Huff and Ernie Shimizu coming in within one and two seconds, respectively, of their target times.
On Thanksgiving Day, Scott Martin ran the Dallas Turkey Trot.
In Sacramento, Galen Farris represented GVH at the Run to Feed the Hungry 5K with a finish time of 16 minutes, placing in his age group. Mark Murray led the club at the 10K, winning his age group in 38 minutes. Joachim Schnier also placed in his age group.
