Just a couple results to post today. Last weekend, Laurin Beckhusen was first in his age group in the Golden Gate Trail Half Marathon. Jim Flanigan ran a fast trail 5K this weekend. We're still waiting on results from the Folsom South Side Trail Runs (if anyone did those).
Congratulations.

February 4-5 Results

posted Feb 6, 2012 2:37 PM by Wendy Pratt

This was the first big racing weekend of the year, and GVH started out in force. There were about 60 members participating in either the 5K, 10K, or half marathon, including our pacers. In addition to numerous age group placers, GVH led several events - Matt Wise won the 5K, Matt Young was 3rd and Steve Andrews 5th in the half marathon, Kristy Soloway was second woman in the half marathon. Jen Jackson would have been first woman in the 10K if her ~37:30 was offical, and Wendy Pratt and Nancy Rashid were 2nd and 3rd entered women in the 10K. There were also several PRs, including Matt Young, Greg Loge and Kristy Soloway in the half marathon. Dan Landherr ran his first race (10K) under 40 minutes, Nancy Rashid broke 40 minutes for the first time since baby #3, Djina Ariel ran her first half marathon in a while (on her 50th birthday). Our pacers were right on target, most within 1 minute, and Adam Lundy and Heather Jones within less than 5 seconds, of their times. Also on Saturday, Craighton Chin ran a fast 800 of 2:32 or so at the UCD all-comers track meet(or 1:58, depending on who you believe). Congratulations to everyone.

Please let me know if I missed anyone, and thanks to Kristy Soloway for helping with results.

Weekend Race Results Jan 21-22

posted Jan 23, 2012 12:15 PM by Wendy Pratt

Weekend race results are back, although racing is fairly limited for a couple more weeks. Way back in late December, Nancy Rashid was 2nd in her age group and 63rd overall in the Bumble Bee 5K in San Diego. This weekend, Heather Komure-Chan was 5th in her age group and 50th overall in the Whole Foods Roseville Half Marathon. Congratulations!

Also, since there are quite a few new runners, here is some information on race results:
1) If I miss your race and/or result, email and let me know, and I'll post it (the following week if not sooner) email to: wbpratt@aol.com.  I don't miss anyone intentionally.

2) I can't keep track of everyone and every race, especially newer runners and runners not from Davis. If you are new, don't live in Davis, and/or are racing outside the Sacramento area, please let me know (ahead of time if possible) and I'll include your results.

3) If for some reason you don't want me to post your results, let me know.

Thanks, Wendy

New Year Weekend trail running

posted Jan 2, 2012 1:56 PM by Craighton Chin

Paula arranged an epic trail run on Mt. Tamalpias on New Years Eve. She used her intimate knowledge of the trails to take us through rain forests, chaparral with manzanita bushes, and green coastal hillsides. On the other side of the valley, there was spectacular weather for the Foresthill to Driver’s Flat 19 mile trail run followed by a pancake breakfast provided by Peter and Bruce. These trail runs involve planning and logistics to go off well. Paula, Peter, and Bruce sweated the details so we can enjoy the trails. As Paula pointed out, the ultra trail running community will miss race organizer Robert and Linda Mathis who were tragically killed.

The big event this weekend was the GVH party. Thanks to Lilly Hayden for organizing and John Burmester for providing our party venue!

In racing, the club XC National Championships were up in Seattle on Saturday. Three club members/associates participated: Cath Kemp represented GVH, and husband Ben Jarrett ran for West Valley. Jim Flanigan ran for Tamalpa, with his team placing 8th in the men's 60+.

Also old news - but GVH Open Women were third in PAUSATF scoring behind two Impala teams at CIM, with Beth Bourne, Kristy Soloway, and Lauren Newcomb combining to win $135. Congratulations!

CIM Results

CIM was the big event this weekend, and Nathanie's weather dance resulted in a great day for running (if there were other race results, please let me know). Many GVH runners had big PRs, and others were close to PRs, or recent-history PRs. Among the PRs were Matt Young, Mike Park, Steve Andrews, Jason Cavatorta, Kristy Soloway, Lauren Newcomb, Cory Glaeser, and Jim Burmester. Combined, these runners improved their marathon times by well over an hour. Several GVH runners partipated in relays, including Chris Brown, Lisa Wells, and Nathanie Lee. Congratulations to all the CIM runners!

This was a light weekend for racing. Angie Hart was 5th in her age group at the Run to Feed the Hungry 10K. If others ran the timed portion of the race, please let me know. Also, I missed new runner Matthew Skonovd's Turkey Trot 10K PR last weekend. Congratulations also to the Senior Men for their 3rd place at PAUSATF XC and 5th overall. The Open Women faced stiff competition at the Championships, placing 8th, and reportedly 5th overall behind a 3-team tie for 2nd.
