Weekend Race Results (10/2-10/8)

Fellow Runners,
First, we have two missed results from October 1st: Allison Alcalay ran the Bridge to Bridge 12K in San Francisco. That same day, Jose Zaragosa and Michael Pate won the Urban Cow Half Marathon as a two-man relay dubbed "The Gun Show".
On Saturday, October 7, Martin Sengo ran the Bay Ridge 100K and Jeff Steele ran the Bizz Johnson 50K, taking third in his age group.
Craighton Chin sent this report on the Willow Hills Cross Country Open:

Willow Hills has 14 hills over a 5K trail, was specifically designed for XC, and is the site for the San Joaquin section championships. The hills are just long enough to take you out of your stride and steep enough to reward those who can fly down with abandon. Pam Runquist looked like a youngster as she flew along at 6:33 pace to take 11th place overall. Open women placed third and the senior women took second place. Of significant note in the overall standings for the season, Joannie #1 in the 60+, #3 in the 50+, and #4 in the 40+ age groups.
The open men race was dominated by Strawberry Canyon, which are recruited young guns from the Berkeley Hills, ex-Cal elites, sponsored now by Peets Coffee, and blasted rap music next to our tent. The winner of the open men's race, a SC runner, ran 5:07 mile pace. Not far behind, Mark Felice ran a blazing fast 5:35 per mile pace. The open men placed SECOND. Super seniors took third place.

On Sunday, October 8, Mark and Joann Helmus ran the Great Trail Race up in Truckee. Mark won his age group and Joann took second in her own age group.
At the Chicago Marathon, Stephen McSorley led GVH with a finish time of 3:12, followed by Angie Hart in 3:25. Erin and Matt Perry finished together in 4:40.
At the Portland Marathon, Cathrine Lemaire ran the half in 1:52, earning a PR and taking third in her age group. Mike Lemaire and Steven Shaffer ran the marathon.
At the San Jose Rock and Roll Marathon, Christina Dicker ran both the 5K and the half, taking third in her age group at the 5K. Bingbiao "Eric" Fang ran the half as well.
